Traveling to Sweden

Today started very early. I set an alarm for 5:45 to interrupt my sleep so I would be tired for the flight. The group of students and I who are going to Sweden (who will be referred to as “the team” from now on) were assigned to met in the Caf at 7. We had breakfast and then I went back to my room to continue to pack. We had class, where we finished presenting our attractions as well as presenting our company reports. After class, I went back to say bye to a few of my friends then went back to my room to pack. At about 5:10 I walked down to our meeting place and at 5:38 PM, we departed campus for O’hare. After some traffic, we arrived and breezed through security.

We arrived at our gate, boarded promptly at 9:20, then took off a few minutes early. With that, I settled into the 8 hour, 3 minute hop across the ocean to Copenhagen. They had a survey application on their displays which I thought was really interesting. Probably not a great idea to have that on an especially long flight when peoples moods change a fair bit during the flight.

I managed to sleep for a few hours (to my suprise) and woke up at what was 3 am Kenosha time, but 10am Gothenburg time. At this point we were about 2 and a half hours out and were going to be flying over the UK in about an hour. We landed about 30 minutes and walked through customs. Apparently it’s more common in Europe for airports to declare the gate once they know exactly what gate. So we got our gate and headed over there. It was a small CR9, so boarding took almost no time. We boarded on the tarmac too, which was something new for me. It was a short flight, around 35 minutes, and we were in Gothenburg. They actually had Volvo’s in the airport. We got our luggage and jumped in a cab for the drive into the city, and we got to our hostel.

We settled in and then headed out for dinner at a restaurant called Pasta Haus down the street. I had a margarita pizza. I don’t think they use sugar in their pizza sauce over here and we are missing out stateside.

We walked down the block some more and walked into a coffee shop. Some of us walked over to a bar (called Karelsons Garage) and I had a dram of Ardbeg 10.
